Starting Reception September 2020

A warm welcome to our existing and new families joining Oak and Beech classes in September. 

It is sad that we cannot invite you into school during this time but hope that the videos and information here will help you and your child with the transition into school.

You should have collected/received your starter pack by now. This includes forms you need to complete for your child to start school as well as other important information.

All enrollment forms should be back at the School Office by: Friday 19th June 2020

Key Transition Dates:

The arrangements for your child’s induction to Reception are as follows:

  • Wednesday 1st, 8th and 15th July 2020 – Virtual Zoom home visits with your child’s class teacher.
  • Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd September - Children in Oak Class will attend 9.15-11.15am and Children in Beech Class will attend 1.15-3.15pm.
  • From Friday 4th September onwards - Children will attend all day from 8.45am to 3.00pm which will be the normal school day. You are able to order a Universal Free School Meal via Dolce (see letter included in your pack for instructions on how to do this) which is made available to all children unless you prefer to provide your child with a packed lunch.


To Book a Virtual Home Visits:

Please can you email the designated email address ( if you feel you would like a virtual home visit with your child's new teacher.

We will allocate visits firstly for the children who are new to St John's and then to current Cherry Nursery Children.

These will be taking place on Wednesday 1st, 8th and 15th July and we will assign time slots fairly across the classes. We will inform you of your time and date on Monday 29th June by email.

Please can you let us know no later than midday on Friday 26th June 2020 if you'd like a virtual home visit.
